Training Services

CEDA plays a critical role in the economy by providing entrepreneurship development, through funding, training and mentoring. Training and mentoring are interconnected as they both attempt to cultivate the right entrepreneurial skills by providing the CEDA beneficiaries with hand holding services for business related functions such as marketing management; financial management; operations management, and human resources management. Provision of these is an attempt to address either the lack of or inadequate business skills.

Training

Training is a direct, interactive coaching that ensures the entrepreneurs acquire the relevant skills, knowledge and competencies for operating their businesses. CEDA training offers hands- on entrepreneurial development courses, where promoters from the same industry are placed together for purposes of information sharing amongst themselves, and with the trainer.

Types of Training

  • Applied Training
As the name suggests, this type of training consists of, out of the classroom training, where the CEDA promoters are given an opportunity to employ the theories of entrepreneurial development in the real world. The various types of applied training are:
    • Attachment training
    • Training Exchange Visit, and
    • Hands on training.

For all these types of training, the training is conducted on site, usually by the owner of the enterprise, who would be practiced in the particular industry, and they would be the mentors.

  • Industry Specific Training
This is a more formal approach to training, where colleagues from the same industry are collectively trained by a specialized professional. The trainees acquire knowledge on the theoretical aspects of the business, and also get an opportunity to learn about challenges, and opportunities for improvements.

  • External Agency Training
This training is done two fold: A training agency invites CEDA to assign a group of entrepreneurs requiring specific training to attend a training course with that agency, or a CEDA beneficiary demonstrates an interest in a course that has been advertised locally, and expresses an interest in attending the course.

This training is outsourced for trainings that we can not provide. This training includes international training courses that are relevant to the promoter.
