MAHUBE COUNTRY VILLA: THE VILLA BUILT BY BRICKS OF A DREAM

It is said that success lies in doing the best not being the best. What started as brick manufacturing project has culminated into multi residential houses of ten (10) apartments in a very beautiful and serene location at the centre of Letlhakane. This is one of the many CEDA’s successful projects owned by Tipson Mahube.

Mahube, a modest and down-to-earth but ambitious individual, self-financed his dream which started off with five (5) apartments. However, the demand for accommodation in Letlhakane was still high as he had to turn back many people who desperately needed accommodation. “I like giving service to people, it is what makes me tick”, stated Mahube and on hearing about the CEDA scheme through the media he was inspired and motivated to approach the agency to enquire on the requirements needed to access funding.

With the advice from CEDA, the highly driven Mahube then set about preparing a business proposal detailing his vision on how he intended to set up a viable business venture. “I made sure I laid down my idea in a concise and precise manner as I believe detail is very critical for the idea to be convincing” stated the smiling Mahube. The necessary financing was approved and Mahube expanded his project.

As Mahube puts it, “in business there is no guarantees, there is simply no way to eliminate all the risks associated with starting a business, but you can improve your chances of success with good planning, preparation, and insight.” This he says, can be done by evaluating ones strengths and weaknesses as a potential owner and manger of a business.

Mahube acknowledges that CEDA’s low interest rates are indeed a great incentive. “My dream has come true through CEDA’s low interest rate including monitoring and mentoring as this has helped me a lot in being able to expand these very unique and stylish apartments which are fully furnished and air conditioned,” stated the Mahube with a smile.

The greatest triumphs in business frequently begin as far-fetched goals. Entrepreneurs such as Mahube are at their best when they challenge themselves. Being committed to achieving big, seemingly impossible goals, reconnects them to the passion that first kicked-started their businesses. Working through a challenging project helps them uncover ingenious ways to move their businesses to exciting new levels. As Mahube puts it, “as an entrepreneur the midst of uncertainty is the prime time for you to be looking for opportunities.” That coupled with support from such an institution like CEDA, the sky is the limit.

According to Mahube, “aim high, but always deliver what you promised because in business just like in life, reputation is everything”. This he maintains because he believes that by being consistent in surpassing the expectations of clients, they will remain loyal in using ones services.

In the end it is the risk-takers that usually prosper and thrive. In that light, Mahube’s visionary outlook has seen him wanting to convert the multi residential area into a guest house (hence a big cafeteria hall) as he feels that this is where the success of the business lie. As a result he has approached the Land Board to spearhead the necessary proceedings and is looking into approaching CEDA for the necessary funding. Mahube’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is that they must, “be brave and think outside the box and with the assistance from CEDA, you are set for prosperity.”
