The Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) was jointly awarded the Best Performing Parastatal with the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Service Excellence Awards held at the Ba Isago International Convention Centre on 18 October 2018. CEDA takes this award for the 6thconsecutive year.

The Best Performing Parastatal Award is awarded to the Parastatal that has met or even exceeded most of its targets in the 2017/18 Financial Year. The Agency has always excelled in its financial performance against its Ministerial counterparts. On hand to receive the award was the CEO, Mr. Thabo Thamane who was accompanied by members of the CEDA Board and Executive Management.

The MITI Excellence Awards are designed to recognise and award all those that have excelled for and under the Ministry. Through these awards recipients are acknowledged for all the work that they have done in the 2017/18 financial year. In winning the Best Performing Parastatal, CEDA can attribute its success to the leadership and commitment to its mandate of empowering Batswana and driving the spirit of entrepreneurship.

With its mandate the Agency continues to remain steadfast in sensitizing Batswana on its products and services as a Development Finance Investment and in turn attract more viable businesses which will make Botswana a more competitive country.

In her address the Minister of Investment Trade and Industry Honourable Bogolo Kenewendo commended all those that have demonstrated extra ordinary attributes, humility and compassion when delivering service to their customers. The Minister said the Excellence Awards were held under the theme “Promoting a High Performance Culture To Achieve Organisational Excellence”.

She applauded those under MITI and said, “We award individuals that are not simply doing their jobs, but had a vision, walked the vision, displayed willpower, walked the extra mile and applied their sense of creativity and commitment to serve with a difference. Through dedicated service we have witnessed the MITI team performance improve significantly over the past three years in the areas of the core mandate, Human Resources and anti-corruption”.

The Minister recognised the Parastatals that fall under the Ministry and said it was gratifying to work with them more so that they share the same vision for ensuring the Ministry achieves its mandate. Through their leadership the Ministry continues to be recognised as one of the key Ministries to bolster and propel the country into the future.

CEDA remains proud of its achievements as an institution mandated to empower Batswana and continuously finds ways to drive the spirit of entrepreneurship. Through concerted efforts and commitment through its employees, customers and stakeholders the Agency will grow and in turn make Botswana the great nation that it is.
