TLOTLO HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTRE OFFICIALLY OPENS ITS DOORS

Tlotlo Hotel and Conference Centre officially opened its doors to the public on the 21st of July 2016. The official opening was graced by the Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Honourable Advocate Sadique Kebonang and the Chief Executive Officer of Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency, Mr. Thabo Thamane.

Tlotlo Hotel Conference Centre is an expansion from the Conference Centre that was situated at Phase 2, Gaborone. It is owned by Mr and Mrs Majinda who have poured their heart and soul into making the business the success that it is today. Speaking at the opening, the Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry commended Mr and Mrs Majinda for their efforts in growing the economy and hospitality industry. He further applauded them for believing in themselves to grow their business and approach CEDA for funding their expansion from Phase 2 to Block 5.  The Assistant Minister explained that Government is continuously looking for those individuals that are driven in pushing various sectors across the country through the Economic Diversification Drive. The Hospitality industry is particularly difficult as there is always competition mushrooming around and for Tlotlo to remain ahead of the pack is an indication that there is a robust marketing strategy to keep up against its competition.

The Chief Executive Officer of CEDA, Mr. Thamane expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr and Mrs Majinda for making a bold move and applying to CEDA for expansion of their project. In his speech, Mr Thamane applauded the Majindas, their management team and staff for giving Batswana exceptional service and being a serious player in the hospitality industry. He said “Tlotlo Hotel and Conference Centre has a direct and indirect contribution to employment creation - The company has employed a total of 84 people including the Managing Director. Out of this total only 7 are Non-citizens and 77 are Batswana. It also creates employment indirectly as it sources inputs from the local market”. He further went on to applaud Tlotlo Hotel for their direct contribution to Economic Diversification – The tourism industry also helped to diversify Botswana's economy from traditional sources such as diamonds and beef. Businesses in this sector indirectly impacts on other sectors that support it such as transportation (e.g. car rental, air transport etc.), retail sector and Agribusinesses. Direct Contribution to Skills Development – The company contributes to skills development through paying BQA Training Levy and imparting practical skills to available tourism and related graduates”

In their closing remarks and thank you address, Mr and Mrs Majinda thanked CEDA as their financiers for believing in them from the onset. “Tlotlo Hotel and Conference Centre has grown over the years and we aim to ensure that we attract Batswana and visitors from all over the world. This can only be attained by quality customer service and up to date products and services. We are only thankful that CEDA as a financier continues to offer us with the support that we need over the years.

Mrs. Majinda said “I urge Batswana to come to Tlotlo Hotel and Conference Centre for both business and pleasure and explore the different amenities we have to offer.”

After the official ceremony and cutting of the ribbon, guests were treated to dinner and drinks.
