CEDA TO BUILD A HOME FOR A RESIDENT IN PITSANE VILLAGE

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) will be building a home for Ms. Moleseng Sereiwa a resident of Pitsane Village in the Southern District Council/Good Hope Sub District. The Agency in partnership with the Southern District Council held a ground-breaking ceremony on the 17th of January 2018 at the beneficiaries plot. The ceremony was held to commemorate the new development and also for CEDA to reaffirm its mandate of not only empowering Batswana through financing mechanisms but also playing a part in contributing towards uplifting the lives of Batswana through CSR.

Speaking at the event as the Keynote Speaker was Minister of Presidential Affairs, Public Administration and Governance, Honourable Eric M. Molale. In his address, the Minister thanked CEDA for heeding to the Councils call to assist Ms. Sereiwa who has been without a home for many years. Honourable Molale informed the public that he and the CEDA Officials took time to assess the needs of Ms Sereiwa and identified her as the deserving beneficiary of a new home. Mr. Molale informed the public that the project will be completed in a period of 7 weeks and within budget to ensure Ms Sereiwa moves into her new home in a short space of time. He also expressed the importance of the Presidential Housing Appeal that aims to provide more Batswana with safe and secure shelter. “Through the Office of the Presidents Presidential Housing Appeal we have been able to provide over 700 homes for people that are less privileged than ourselves. Today is true testimony that institutions such as CEDA are also willing to play their part in improving the lives of Batswana”.

Speaking on behalf of CEDA as the sponsor was Mr. Andrew Madeswi. Mr. Madeswi thanked the Southern District Council for affording the Agency an opportunity to help someone and improve their lives. Mr. Madeswi explained that CEDA has financed many projects in the Southern District particularly in the Agribusiness sector. “CEDA is happy to be associated with the Southern District Council and looks forward to handing over this project upon completion. CEDA also recognises shelter as a basic human need and applauds the Government of Botswana for the Presidential Housing Appeal which has helped Batswana all over the country”.

In her closing remarks the Southern District Council Chairperson Ms. Molefe thanked both CEDA and the Office of the President for making Ms. Sereiwa’s dream of owning a home come true. In her address the Council Chairperson assured the community that the project will be completed on time and in budget to ensure the beneficiary moves in to her home in a short space of time.

CEDA continues to empower and develop Batswana all over the country through its products and services as per its mandate. Through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives the Agency will endeavour to help Batswana in many avenues.
