CEDA CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, THABO THAMANE OFFICIATES AT THE OPENING OF BOTHO UNIVERSITY eLAB

On Tuesday 07th June 2016 the CEDA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Thabo Thamane, was invited to Botho University as the Keynote Speaker for the launch of their eLab, as partof the university's Entrepreneurship Development Programme (BUEDP). 'The eLab has been established in order to inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship and also help aspiring student entrepreneurs to work towards making their business ideas come to life, through connecting them to necessary support structures.”

The Aspiring entrepreneurs were afforded the opportunity to pitch their business ideas through the popular concept of Dragon's Den. They had the opportunity to pitch for further consideration of their business concepts in the 'Den' from the 'Dragons', four local serial entrepreneurs and a fifth judge being a representative from the Stellenbosch LaunchLab. The welcome address was given by the PRO Vice Chancellor to the University, Mrs Priya Iyer and the vote of thanks by the Dean, Dr Bathsheba Mbongwe.

For his part, Mr, Thamane applauded the University for seeing this as a worthy initiative. Mr. Thamane said in his speech “It is important for Universities to provide their learners with the required skills and technical know-how to start up their businesses. With a formal education and motivation students will be equipped to get out into the world of business and compete with their peers” The CEO went on to pledge his support to students and aspiring business owners that can display viable, innovative and sustainable business plans/proposals to the Agency.
