CEDA OPENS ITS 9th CLIENT SERVICE CENTRE IN THE CHOBE DISTRICT

In line with the Strategic Initiatives from the 2015-2018 Strategy Cycle that CEDA staff contributed to and crafted, one of the key initiatives was identifying areas to open additional offices to increase its presence, and better serve its customers.

Kasane was identified as one of the areas where presence was needed urgently, in part to serve existing clients and attract new ones, and also position CEDA for the opportunities that will arise through the construction of the Kazungula Bridge and other national projects.  The Satellite CSC has since been officiallyopened on the 6th of November 2015, and is now operational.

The CEDA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Thabo Thamane opened the proceedings by explaining the strategic intent of opening a Service Centre in Kasane. He explained that CEDA has only been accessible to the people of Chobe through its Clients Service Centre based in Francistown making it a long journey to get the assistance required. He went on to say “The Kasane Satellite Service Centre will provide the business community with everything needed to submit proposals and also to enquire about what role CEDA plays in empowering Batswana to become entrepreneurs”. Mr. Thamane also went on to explain the footprint that CEDA has set in Kasane and only hopes to finance more viable business projects.

Officially Opening the Service Centre was the Minister of Trade and Industry, Honourable Vincent T. Seretse who was also the key note speaker. In his address the Minister applauded the Agency for seeing it fit to open a Service Centre in Kasane. In his address the Minister said “Kasane is undergoing great transition with a number of developments earmarked in the near future, it is the onus of the business community both large and small to make use of these opportunities”. He went on to say “I encourage everybody here to make use of the CEDA Kasane Satellite Client Service to not only come and enquire about business opportunities but to also make efforts to source financing from the Agency”.

Member of Parliament for Chobe, Honourable MachanaShamukuni for his part equally commended CEDA for bringing their services closer to the community of Kasane, Kazungula and neighbouring villages. He urged everyone to take the initiative and visit the CEDA CSC for assistance in starting a business. He went on to say “Chobe is booming with a great deal of opportunities in many sectors such as Agro-tourism, Eco-Tourism, Crop Farming and other services. It would only be wise for Batswana to make use of these opportunities”.

After the formalities, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Honourable Vincent T. Seretse officially opened the CSC by unveiling the plaque and cutting the ribbon to officially open the CSC. The delegation also toured the Client Service Centre offices and met the staff overseeing the Chobe District.

The Kasane Satellite Client Service Centre is situated in the Kasane District Council Office on Plot 5085, RAC Offices Kasane.
