CEDA Sensitizes Batswana on its Mandate, Products and Services at the Khawa Dune Challenge.

Many people did not know a remote village called Khawa existed before. It was until Botswana Tourism Organisation listed it under some of the key destinations that will be visited every year for their tourism potential, that has ever since then been appreciated almost by all Batswana.

Ever since then, the village has received help from government departments such as Water Utilities Corporation (WUC), Botswana Police and Wildlife department and others. The official opening of the cultural festival was done by His Excellency, the President Lieutenant General Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, who applauded the Botswana Tourism Organisation for their efforts in developing Khawa and encouraged residents of Khawa and those overseeing the Khawa Trust to learn ways of sustaining themselves using the tourism potential of their village.

This year, many parastatals, private companies had come to join other government departments that had attended the festival. There were also changes and improvements made in and around the villages. Roads were now accessible even with small cars, unlike in the previous years where only 4x4 were used.

The cultural festival was graced by different forms of song and dance from not only Khawa but other parts of Botswana. The competition was fierce but in the end there had to be a winner who was awarded the prize by His Excellency.

CEDA has seen great potential in the event hence having participated for the past 3 years. Khawa Dune Challenge gives the Agency the opportunity to sensitize many Batswana on its mandate products and services thereby enhancing its visibility to people from all walks of life. Many people that visited the CEDA were not aware of the potential that they could derive from engaging CEDA and starting viable business prospects.
