Thamane elected AADFI Chairman

CEDA Chief Executive Officer Mr Thabo Thamane was this week elected Chairman of the Association of African Development Finance Institution (AADFI). He was elected at the Annual General Assembly currently ongoing in Malabo Equatorial Guinea. AADFI currently has 82-member institutions and is headquartered in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The association is a member of the World Federation of Development Finance Institutions and has observer status at the World Bank. Mr Thamane takes over from the CEO of the Development Bank of South Africa.

The AADFI's main objectives are to promote economic and social development in Africa through cooperation amongst banks and financial institutions as well as to accelerate the process of economic integration in the African region amongst other things. 

The main activities of the AADFI are the provision of information and training in the techniques of banking and finance as well as development policy advise to African bankers and finance officers.
