CEDA Livestock Sector Funding
Overview
The Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) supports Botswana’s livestock sector by funding viable animal production projects that enhance food security and economic sustainability. It provides financial assistance across various subsectors, ensuring each meets specific viability requirements.
CEDA funds cattle breeding, small stock (goats and sheep), poultry farming (broilers and layers), piggery, dairy farming, and feed-lots. Each project must adhere to industry standards, such as minimum land requirements, access to reliable water and electricity, and compliance with the Livestock and Meat Industries Act. Specialized conditions apply to certain projects, such as proximity to markets for dairy farms and agreements with the Botswana Meat Commission for feed-lots. Through these initiatives, CEDA aims to strengthen Botswana’s livestock industry, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability.
