                                    CEDA Awarded the rights to host the 2016 World Federation of Development Finance Institutions (WFDFI) Joint CEO Forum

The Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) has been awarded the rights to host the 2016 World Federation of Development Finance Institutions (WFDFI) Joint CEO Forum to be held in Gaborone, Botswana on the 2nd -4th November 2016. CEDA was awarded the rights to host the conference ahead of its counterparts from Nigeria, Morocco and South Africa in Kampala, Uganda at the Association of African Development Finance Institutions (AADFI) CEO’s Forum. The Joint CEO’s Forum  is a biennial event, was previously held in 2014, in  Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia hosted by the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and Pacific ADFIAP.

Background of The World Federation of Development Finance Institutions

The World Federation of Development Finance Institutions (WFDFI) comprises of Member Associations such as:

  • Association of African Development Finance Institutions (AADFI). (CEDA is a Member)
  • Association of Development Finance Institutions in member-countries of the Islamic Development Bank (ADFIMI).
  • Association of Development Finance  Institutions in Latin America (ALIDE)
  • Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and Pacific (ADFIAP)

The CEO Forum will attract participants from across all four DFI Associations in over 100 countries and will consist mainly of CEO’s, Government Officials and high ranking officials of the member countries. This forum is aimed at building and fostering closer working relationships amongst CEO’s from the 4 member associations. It will give officials the opportunity to share and learn best practices in development financing operations, assist in creating networks for potential cross-border financing and investment promotion by DFI’s in their respective continents. The Forum will also aid in promoting inclusive socio-economic development in the continents.

By hosting the WFDFI Joint CEO Forum, Botswana will have the opportunity to share and showcase its development experiences and expertise with its counterparts that will be in attendance. The Forum provides the City of Gaborone and CEDA the rare opportunity to showcase its successes and share its experiences. 

The Forum will give Botswana the opportunity to expose herself as we celebrate 50 Years of Independence, and attract potential and viable foreign direct investment into the country. Through the Forum, local businesses will have an opportunity to provide services and network with the delegates from the different DFI’s participating at the forum.
