CEDA SUPPORTS THE SEROWE DISTRICT SHOW

The Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) recently sponsored the Serowe District Show committee in an effort to grow the Show and attract more exhibitors both local and regional in industries such as agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, property and tourism. This year marked the first year of CEDA’s 3 year commitment to sponsor the show and assist it in making it one of Botswana’s leading trade expo.

Speaking at the District Show Official Opening, the CEDA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Thabo Thamane went on to explain why the Agency saw it fit to financially support the Serowe District Show through sponsorship. “The Agency is continuously looking for different avenues where it can partner with entities that CEDA has financed in the past.” He argued that through sponsoring and supporting Agricultural Shows there is a value chain created and in turn creates employment. “The Agency will not hesitate in sponsoring CEDA Financed clients as it would assist in injecting economic growth” he said.

Mr. Thamane went on to explain that CEDA has spent approximately P451 million in the Central District with P231 million being financing towards the Agricultural Sector. P 121 million has been to finance cattle breeding projects whilst P81 million went to poultry and P27 million has been allocated toward horticulture. “With large amounts of being channelled toward farming it only makes sense to sponsor an Agricultural Show of this magnitude.

For his part, His Excellency the President Lieutenant General Ian Khama Seretse Khama applauded both Mr. Thamane representing CEDA for their contribution towards financially assisting the Serowe District show and the organisers of the District Show. He said that the Government of Botswana   relies heavily on the Agricultural sector for food security  along with Government entities such as CEDA that empower Batswana through financing Agricultural projects both small and large scale.

After the official proceedings , His Excellency the President Lieutenant General Ian Khama Seretse Khama, Mr Thamane along with other key dignitaries were taken on a guided tour of the showgrounds and prize-giving ceremony for the livestock that were competing throughout show.
